Create a simple and easy dessert table for Valentine’s Day using these really adorable Penguins in Love images, fonts and digi-papers by Shery K.
Backdrops for sweets tables help to serve as a focal point for a well styled party. This bulletin board backdrop was embellished with cut out hearts and phrases from the set. I also swagged ribbon across the board for added dimension.
One of my favorite thing to do with printable images is to create party picks with them. These proper penguin party sticks are easy to make. Just print out the images to about four inches and attach to a bamboo skewer. I added mine to the back of a covered Styrofoam cake form that was used to display cupcakes.
Using the font images and heart shaped doily clip art available with the kit, I created this ‘LOVE’ banner. I also used a pink heart shaped ribbon that I got on clearance to embellish a hot pink hat box from my party stash. Then I added a small cake stand on top of the box to create a tiered stand for delicious ice cream cups….because what kind of Penguin themed party doesn’t have ice cream?
Here is a trick I learned for creating height on your sweets tables or dessert buffets. Use styrofoam cake forms to create risers to display your treats. You simply cover them with paper and embellish. I always use a removable two-sided tape so I can change out the covering or the forms to coordinate with my theme. I added some digipaper and a party dot, along with more of the heart shaped ribbon for embellishment.
Cupcake toppers are still my go to item for dressing up plain store-bought cupcakes. I also like to add a wrapper around the cupcake liner to finish off the look and make everything more cohesive.
I found these shortbread cookies in my neighborhood grocery store. I added them to polka dot cupcake liners then I displayed them on a tiered stand. For some fun and whimsy I placed a few in a decorative mini mailbox. You can find similar baking cups at Bloom Designs.
You can coordinate your party even more when you add a strip of printed digi paper to a plain glass soda bottle. I also used small strips of paper to create straw flags. The bottles were displayed in painted wooden baskets I found at the dollar spot in Target!
These favor bag tags were dressed up with a strip of washi tape. After filling these cute treat bags with goodies, I placed them in a pink wire basket.
